Muay Thai Inspired Conditioning
It’s a knew year and the contest is starting, are you looking to burn some extra calories? On Sundays at 11am I will be doing a Muay Thai inspired workout that is free and open to every gym member and does not count towards your days per month.
What is Muay Thai? Muay Thai is a fighting style that originated in Thailand in the mid 19th century and is often referred to as the art of the eight limbs. Hands, elbows, knees and legs are used to strike an opponent. Muay Thai is fought in a ring similar to boxing or kick boxing.
I have been training Muay Thai on and off since 1993 (that’s when our owner Dillon was born! damn) throughout various gyms in the Pittsburgh area. Currently, I am training out of Fire Dragon in Castle Shannon. Over the years I have had numerous fights, sparring sessions, smokers, etc. in multiple states.
Now the fun part, these will be Muay Thai inspired workouts without having to worry about getting hit. Don’t worry there will be no fighting of any kind. We will do a lot of the same drills that I have done throughout the years while learning to throw different punching and kicking combinations. There will be a focus on putting together different combinations in a cardio setting as well as mixing in some body weight exercises. Each session will be approximately an hour long and you don’t need to bring anything. Most importantly no experience of any kind is needed, and this is about having some fun and burning some extra calories while the contest is going on. Be on the lookout for a start date and feel free to reach out to Dillon or myself with any questions.
